IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT, In 1984, late one night in a grocery store parking lot. We dated for a few months on two separate occasions through high school and after, but we just couldn't get on the same page. We were so much alike (and stubborn) that we were constantly arguing and fussing. After the last argument we had, I packed up and moved to Atlanta without telling anyone. We "ran into" each other ALOT over the years, more than a typical "just dated" couple would or should have. And in the weirdest places! But finally, we both were going through divorces and reached out to each other. It was as if time stood still and not a minute had passed since we had last been together in 1990.
He proposed to me on a cruise to Grand Turks last April! He was so nervous and I had spoiled his initial plan at our formal dinner. When we got back to our room, I was changing and turned around, he was on one knee with tears in his eyes. We decided to get married in the Smoky Mountains because it was so convenient and we wanted to make sure that our children could attend. It was close enough that no one would miss school. The location and views were perfect for our love story. I researched for days the perfect photographer and New Beginnings had the best images and for a very reasonable rate compared to others. On our wedding day, we didn't want anything out of the ordinary. We went to the water park then my daughter and I left for the hair salon. We met at the venue and had the BEST officiant and photographer around! We loved our officiant and the message he read to us. It was so fitting for us, as if he knew us personally.
Ricky is the most considerate and hard working man I have ever known. He provides for his family and makes sure we all always have what we need and want. He is a devout Christian and puts his beliefs in God into our every day lives. His laugh, oh his laugh! All of those years we weren't together, I could still hear his laugh in my head and it would make me smile. He is an amazing father to all of our children and never hesitates to show his love or affection for any of us. God sure had a part in this knowing I needed him in my life for me and my children. I would like to give a piece of advice to everyone. If you find someone who makes your heart pound..makes you stutter when you speak...makes you forget everything and everyone around you..then you have found your soulmate. Do not ignore those signs and be stubborn or scared. Live your life to the fullest and enjoy every breathing moment with your true love!
